2024 Elections: Special Voting Slated For December 2
The Electoral Commission has scheduled this year’s special voting which gives the security agencies and the media including other public workers opportunity to vote ahead of the general elections on Monday, December 2.
The Commission announced this during a meeting with the Ghana Journalists Association on Tuesday, May 28, in Accra.
The general elections to elect Ghana’s next President and parliamentary representatives will take place on Saturday, December 7.
The candidates vying for the Presidency are Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the New Patriotic Party, John Dramani Mahama for National Democratic Congress, Alan Kyerematen for Movement for Change as an independent candidate, Nana Kwame Bediako alias Cheddar for New Force, also as an independent candidate, and a host of others.
Outlining the category of people eligible for the special voting, EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa mentioned the Ghana Armed Forces, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), National Security, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Information Services Department.
Additionally, the National Ambulance Service, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Prisons Service, Ghana Journalists Association, Ghana Police Service and the National Media Commission.
