2024 Post-Election Violence: Don’t Be Neutral; Be On The Side Of Lawfulness – Kwame Poku CID To IGP
DCE for Amansie South, Clement Opoku Gyamfi alias Kwame Poku CID has called on the Inspector General of Police to sanction his officers to deal with those looting properties and attacking people in the aftermath of the 2024 elections.
Following the victory of John Dramani Mahama as President-elect, some fanatics of the National Democratic Congress stormed some storage facilities for food and relief items raiding the places and bolting away with the items while others reportedly hit Police stations releasing those in the cells.
Others also burned establishments used as collation centers for the elections among other acts of vandalism.
In view of these inappropriate acts, Kwame Poku CID, speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, charged the Police to enforce law and order in the country.
He admonished them to throng the streets arresting any person who resorts to any form of violence.
“The Ghana Police Service, especially, cannot be neutral when there is lawlessness and lawfulness”, he exclaimed.
He emphasized the Police “should always be on the side of lawfulness”.
