34 Problems Bawumia Solved As Vice President


In about a week from today, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will end his illustrious service to the nation as Vice President of the Republic for eight years.

Even though he could not achieve his target of becoming Ghana’s President in 2025, Dr. Bawumia will be remembered in the history books as the most impactful Vice President of Ghana.

In a role which was previously ceremonial and dormant with previous Vice Presidents having little to do in terms of making a significant impact, Dr. Bawumia, in the eight years, redefined this role by bringing much honour to the Vice Presidency through his problem-solving advocacy and policies.

Bawumia’s focus on championing policies that solve the nation’s challenges throughout his stay in office were overwhelming and a irresistible so far as Ghana’s development was concerned.

As many as 34 major government policies have been credited to Dr. Bawumia.

Bawumia’s goal to put in place a robust structure for a modern and digital economy saw him dedicate his efforts to addressing two key areas which define the digitalization drive in modern economies, primarily the national identity system and property address system.

The effective implementation of these two addressed Ghana’s age-long problem of lack of national identity system and national property address system.

Having championed these two pillars, they paved the way for the smooth take-off of Ghana’s many digitalization initiatives which Dr. Bawumia spearheaded such as the mobile money interoperability addressing the challenge of financial exclusion in Ghana, digitalization of public services like NHIS registration and renewal, paperless ports service, DVLA and passport applications among others which brought ease to Ghanaians.

Again, through Dr. Bawumia’s digitalization drive, Ghana has been effectively curb the menace of ghost names on public payrolls; a canker which robbed the nation of millions of cedis.

Dr. Bawumia’s impact as Vice President is also felt strongly in the health sector, having spearheaded the innovative delivery of the essential medical supplies through drones which is saving millions of lives in remote communities.

Again in the health sector, the Vice President is also credited with the idea of Agenda 111, a bold initiative by the Akufo-Addo government to construct hospitals in all districts and new Regions without hospitals.

Each of the 34 initiatives Dr. Bawumia spearheaded addresses a major problem bedeviling Ghana.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s impact on Ghana remains indelible and incontestable, hence earning enormous respect as Ghana’s best Vice President.
