4-year Old Girl With Amputated Leg Walks Again After Bawumia Sponsored Her Surgery


A 4-year old, Priscilla, a cured leper at the Weija Leprosarium is back on her feet after Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia sponsored her successful surgery to replace her limb in Italy.

The girl, who was abandoned by her parents at birth due to her condition, has been under the care of Father Andrew’s Campbell at the Weija Leprosarium and had her leg amputated in Ghana following unsuccessful attempts to treat an affected leg of hers.

Vice President Bawumia, who is also a Patron of Lepers Aid Ghana and a frequent visitor to the Weija Leprosarium, met Priscilla and decided to assist her by funding her trip and medical cost in Italy for a special procedure to fix a special prosthetics for her.

After a 5-month stay in Italy for the procedure and recovery at one of the best facilities in the world, the young girl can finally walk again.

Together with her guardian, Father Andrews Campbell and some officials of the Weija Leprosarium, Priscilla visited Dr. Bawumia’s residence after arriving in Ghana to express her gratitude.

Dr.  Bawumia, upon seeing her, was utterly excited as the little girl kept saying “I’m walking for Dr. Bawumia”.

Dr. Bawumia shared the exciting scene on his Facebook page, describing the moment as a “Christmas gift” for him and shouted “to God be the glory”.
