There’s Thin Line Between Being Assertive And Being Proud – Dr. Otchere-Ankrah Replies NAPO’s Critics
Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah has replied critics of the Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, over his selection as NPP Running Mate.
The National Council of the New Patriotic Party has approved Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh alias NAPO as Running Mate for the party.
There was a National Council meeting on Thursday, July 4, where the nominee was officially presented to the Council and after deliberations, they unanimously approved Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the Running Mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia into the December general elections.
Delivering a speech after his confirmation, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also called “NAPO”, said; “I am privileged and duty-bound to extend my full support to Dr. Bawumia as we work together to realise his visionary agenda of propelling Ghana to greater heights. I view this nomination as part of God’s plan for my life, and I am grateful for His guidance in directing my path. I pray for His ongoing guidance as I move forward. I consider this nomination as a call to higher service, a call to sacrifice and a duty to perform.”
He called on members of his party to “join hands as we collectively strive to achieve our ambitious goal of transforming Ghana into a prosperous nation”.
Touching on the approval of NAPO’s Running Mate position during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, Dr. Otchere-Ankrah, a Governance lecturer at the Central University, extended his best wishes to the Minister.
“We wish him well”, he said.
He further negated the criticisms of Dr. Opoku Prempeh as an arrogant person.
“There is a thin line between being assertive and being proud”, he replied, stressing “if the NPP members are one million in number and among all these numerous people, he is the one selected to be Running Mate, there must be something good in him. Like him or hate him, he has his good sides. He’s been an MP, Minister of Education and Energy Minister, so we will now assess his track record”.
