Dec 7: ‘Certify Results From EC Before Going Public’ – Prof. Osafo Warns Ghanaians
Senior Psychologist, Professor Joseph Osafo has warned the masses against publicizing unauthorized results on the day of the presidential and parliamentary elections this December.
Prof. Joseph Osafo called on the citizenry, especially the supporters of the various political parties, media professionals and bloggers not to be in a hurry to break the election results publicly.
He highlighted the consequences of such action, stating how it could lead to violent confrontations and destabilization.
The Electoral Commission has registered its readiness to conduct free and fair December 7 polls.
According to the Chairperson, Jean Mensa, the EC has upped their game to ensure credible elections.
“In terms of the arrangements put in place, the conduct of our field staff, the availability of materials and the functioning of our equipment, among others, the 2024 Voters Registration Exercise was highly successful”.
“It was inclusive and highly participatory, and to date we have not heard or received any complaints relating to the disenfranchisement of citizens”, she assured.
Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Prof. Osafo asked Ghanaians to “certify the figures from EC” before believing or reporting the election results.
