You’re Not A ‘Senior House Master’ – Dr. Otchere-Ankrah Blasts Speaker
Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a Governance Lecturer at the Central University, has replied the Speaker of Parliament for sacking Sefwi-Wiawso lawmaker, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, from Parliament on Monday, July 22, 2024.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin angrily marshalled Dr. Kwaku Afriyie out of Parliament after the latter challenged him on an issue before the House.
Hon. Alban Bagbin found Dr. Kwaku Afriyie’s act disrespectful, hence walking him out of the Legislative House.
Dr. Afriyie said; “With all due respect to your chair, this preliminary remarks you are making are presidential and I believe that as representing the good people of Sefwi-Wiawso, it doesn’t lie in your mouth to remind us of the things that you have said.”
Speaker Bagbin replied; “This is a completely rude remark and I can send you out of the House. It lies in my authority to do so. I represent the whole country, you represent the good people of Sefwi-Wiawso. Please Marshal take him out of the House, I will not entertain such disrespect.”
Briefly touching on Speaker’s reaction, Dr. Otchere-Ankrah, on Thursday’s “Kokrokoo” show on Peace FM, responded; “You are not a Senior House Master”.
