1D,1F Policy Was Good But Poorly Implemented – Atik
Atik Mohammed, a former PNC General Secretary, has taken a shot at the Akufo-Addo administration over its “1 District, 1 Factory” policy introduced in 2017 to transform the economy.
The “1 District, 1 Factory” is aimed at establishing factories across the nation in fulfilment of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s promise to industrialize the nation.
Joining the Friday panel on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Atik Mohammed described the policy as a “brilliant” one but, to him, the government has failed in executing it to lessen the economic pressures.
To him, “the idea of 1 District, 1 Factory was not a bad one but, in my view, it was poorly implemented because we allowed politics to take control because we allowed politics to take control”.
He advised the government to concentrate on “cottage industry” which he believes will directly and positively affect the lives of the citizenry.
“…let’s focus on medium enterprises that have interest in manufacturing”, he stated.
