Meet The Press: Creating Jobs For Our Youth Will Be The Heartbeat Of My Government – Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and flagbearer of NPP, says one of the things which will be the main focus of his administration is the creation of jobs for the youth.

Interacting with the media in Accra, Dr. Bawumia said despite the Akufo-Addo government creating more than 2.3 million jobs in the past 7 years, there remains concerns over youth unemployment.

He therefore outlined a number of steps he will do, if elected President, to address this situation saying “there are many areas that we will tackle for young people to get jobs…We are looking at the growth of businesses which will make people hire more and we have proposed a number of incentives to businesses to help them grow”.

He further stated;  “We also have a major tax reform programme to create a convenient environment for business in flat tax rate and tax amnesty.”

“We also believe that training the youth is very important so the investment we are making in TVET will be improved significantly.”

“We are also committed to training the youth in a broad area of ICT skills and many of our trained youth will have the opportunity to get jobs in Ghana and from various places abroad.”

The NPP flagbearer reinforced his commitment to the Ghanaian youth during his meeting with journalists on Sunday, August 25.
