Dec 7 Elections: ‘We Need Our Own Queue To Vote Early’ – Kabilla Tells EC To Give SDA Members ‘Special Treatment’
James Kwabena Bomfeh has made a proposal to the Electoral Commission to have a special package for members of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church on the election day.
The SDA has served notice that the December 7 elections would at variance with their faith as the day is their Sabbath Day which they keep very sacred.
They have been petitioning the Electoral Commission (EC) to review the date of the election to enable them exercise their franchise but their request, according to the Commission, cannot be met in this year’s elections.
Hence, the presidential and parliamentary elections will come off on Saturday, December 7.
James Kwabena Bomfeh alias “Kabilla”, a former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and a staunch member of the SDA, has appealed to the electoral management body to give a special preference to their members by allowing them to vote earlier than any other voter.
He charged the EC to “give them special treatment on that day when they get to the line so they don’t stay there for too long to cause an inconvenience to their faith…I mean you create a line (for them)”.
He made this appeal in his submissions on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show.
