Stop Your ‘Campaign of Insults’ And Tell Us What You Have Done – Zongo Youth Caution NDC

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been urged to show the people of Zongo the records of former President Mahama in the Zongo communities and stop their politics of insults.

In a statement, a youth development advocacy group called “Zongo Movement for Development” accused the NDC of engaging in a “campaign of calumny” in the Zongos against NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, by launching “unprintable insults” against his person.

The group said it is disrespectful to “Zongo Chiefs, Imams and our mothers” for the NDC, instead of telling the people the works of former President John Mahama for the Zongos under his reign as President, to meet the leaders and residents in the communities while they have resorted to insulting Dr. Bawumia.

“As the 2024 Presidential Election gets closer and the campaign heats up, the Zongo Movement for Development (ZOMOD) has noticed a disrespectful mode of campaigning by leadership of the NDC, with regards to the Zongo community.”

“Rather than showing the people of Zongo respect and telling us the record of former President Mahama, if any, in the Zongos, when he was Vice President and President between 2009 and 2017 respectively, the NDC has rather chosen the brutish path of launching insulting attacks on the person of Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, anytime it meets a Zongo audience”, the statement said.

The statement cited instances where national executives of the NDC including their National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary, Fiifi Kwetey and leading member, Alhaji Sinare have been raining scathing verbal attacks at Dr. Bawumia before a Zongo audience.

The group, on the other hand, hailed the New Patriotic Party stating they are decent and stick to issues by telling the people of Zongo the good works of the party and their flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, for them.

“We are not surprised that, unlike the NDC, the NPP and the Bawumia Zongo Campaign, has been propagating the achievements and record of its party and candidate during its meetings with the Zongo community. What is even more remarkable is that the Bawumia Zongo campaign, has catologued every project it has built in the Zongos throughout the country and provided locations for verification”, they emphasized, adding “again, unlike the NDC leadership, the Bawumia campaign shows decency to the people of Zongo and do not come around engaging in insults”.
