Only God Makes A King; Not Jean Mensa – Okoe Boye Chides NDC
Minister for Health, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye has condemned the National Domestic Congress over their position on the Electoral Commission.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) accuses the Electoral Commission (EC) of possessing a voter’s register that has irregularities and bloated names.
The party is of the firm belief that the EC wants to rig the December elections in favor of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
They therefore threaten a protest against the Commission on Tuesday, September 17.
“We had a very good meeting with the regional police bosses and the agreement is that we are going to proceed with our demonstration on the 17th of this month. And it’s going to happen not just in Greater Accra but in all the other regions of the country at the same time.
“We wanted to have a confirmation about the endpoint – in terms of the route, we had an agreement that we are going to start from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, proceed through Farisco Traffic Light through to TUC, continue through the Ministry and come all the way to Parliament and end up in front of the premises of the Electoral Commission”, NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey told the media at the EC Headquarters after a meeting between the leadership of the party and the Accra Regional Police Command.
Reacting to the NDC’s posture on the register during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show on Monday, September 16, Dr. Okoe Boye wondered why the opposition party is afraid because, to him, the Commission led by Jean Mensa has no power to make a President for Ghana.
He noted that the election of a leader though made by the citizens is ultimately a decision only God can make.
To him, no one can decide who to become a king if God hasn’t appointed such a king.
“It is God who makes a king…Let’s do what we can as humans but it’s God who will make a king tomorrow”, he replied the NDC.
