State Of Emergency: Protesters Have A ‘Regime Change’ Agenda – Kabilla
James Kwabena Bomfeh alias Kabilla has fired shots at those calling for a state of emergency to be declared over galamsey.
There is currently a major crusade against illegal mining in Ghana, known in local parlance as galamsey, with the crusaders vehemently imploring the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to declare a state of emergency and cease all small-scale mining operations.
The porponents believe this is the way forward to stopping galamsey activities that have contaminated the water bodies and environment.
But Kabilla shares dissenting views on the call for state of emergency.
According to him, those making the calls are only doing so because they have a “regime change agenda”.
Kabilla argued that if indeed they seek an end to this menace, they should get to the “root of the matter” instead of their demands on the President.
He noted that it’s not the fault of the incumbent government under the leadership of President Nana Addo that galamsey persists but rather this canker dates back to the early 2000s with some organizations and individuals raising alarm over the dangers of the galamsey operators.
The former CPP General Secretary made these points during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.
