2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Don’t Play If… – GFA President ‘Angrily’ Rebukes Black Stars Players Ahead Of Sudan Match

Kurt Okraku

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has lambasted the Black Stars players ahead of their match against Sudan on Thursday, October 10, in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Ghana lost their games against Angola and Niger but are hopeful to win against Sudan to keep hope alive for the nation in qualifying for the tournament.

As the players gather to prep for their upcoming game, the GFA President, in a meeting with them, has admonished them to showcase a nationalistic spirit towards the tournament.

He rebuked the team for being unserious and showing lack of fortitude towards winning their matches.

What even bores him the more, he noted, is that some of the players in the last games were laughing after losing.

He said; “The minimum Ghana expects is a team of boys or men who are so passionate and desire to play for our country, not when you have dribbled and you will be seen walking on the pitch and the ball heading towards your net. That is impossible. I told the coach, it’s either you, guys, decide to play for Ghana, to play for the 30 million plus people or decide you will not play; then you will never be selected.”

He further charged them saying “once you depart your various places and you come here and you put on the shirt, naturally, that should give you the pride to fight to show passion, to show aggression, to show desire to win for your country”.
