John Dramani Mahama Declared President-Elect Of Ghana

Former President and presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has been historically declared President-elect of Ghana.

The Electoral Commissioner, Jean Mensa made the announcement days after the main contender of Mahama, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia conceded defeat saying “the people of Ghana have spoken. The people have voted for change at this time, and we respect that decision with all humility.” 

The polls, held across the country on Saturday, December 7, resulted in a landslide victory for the former President, John Mahama.

According to the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, John Mahama polled 6,328,397 representing 56.55% while Dr Mahamudu Bawumia garnered 4,657, 304, representing 41.61%.

Some policies proposed by Mahama to advance the progress of Ghana are his popular 24-hour economy, poultry project among others.

The two-time presidential candidate will earn his name in the history books of Ghana as the first former President of Ghana to rout a sitting Vice President contesting to become President of the nation.
