Black Stars Struggling Due To Lack of Blessing – Osei Kweku ‘Palmer’

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer, has linked the Black Stars’ recent struggles to a lack of support from influential figures in Ghanaian football.

The senior national team has come under fire due to their disappointing performances, including failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) — a first in two decades.

In an interview on Asempa FM, Palmer, who is also the President of Tema Youth, criticized the treatment of himself and other key contributors to the team’s development.

He suggested that such neglect could be hindering the team’s success.

“Sometimes I wonder why people say the Black Stars are suffering, but the truth is that you cannot treat people like this and expect the senior national team to prosper”,  Palmer expressed.

Having served the Black Stars in various roles over the years, Palmer expressed his frustration over the lack of recognition for his efforts.

“The team has no blessings. This is the national team that I have served and supported, and this is how I am being treated? I am sorry, but I am deeply hurt”, he lamented.

Despite the team’s failure to qualify for the AFCON, the Black Stars will regroup for their Matchday five and six games of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March later this year.
