‘Where’s the Police?’ – Charles Owusu Descends On IGP Dampare
Charles Owusu has slammed the Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare over the post-election violence in the country.
The 2024 independent parliamentary candidate for Nkoranza North was critical of the seeming silence of the IGP on arresting the perpetrators.
It could be recalled that some fanatics of the governing National Democratic Congress, after declaration of the 2024 election results in favor of their presidential candidate and parliamentary representatives, hit the streets destroying billboards belonging to the former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and also raided some storage facilities across the nation.
EC collation centers were also razed down in fire.
Contributing to Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Charles Owusu wondered why the Police stood aloof for such violent acts to continue.
Referencing instances where, prior to the general elections last year, the Police arrested persons who committed various offences including minor traffic violations and were arraigned before court and also carried out other arrests of some Prophets including the renowned Owusu Bempah, Mr. Owusu sought to understand why Dr. Dampare is no longer performing as he used to.
He found the IGP’s attitude and that of the Police Service “distasteful” stressing “crime has no political color”, hence it doesn’t matter who is or was involved in the violence and which party they belong to, such individuals should be made to face the full rigors of the law.
“Where is the Police to enforce law and order?”, he queried.
