Obuasi Mine Deaths: Apologize To Ghanaians Over Your Inciteful Comments – Captain Smart Told

Captain Smart

Collins Owusu Amankwah has advised Onua TV broadcaster, Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, to revise his behavior and approach towards the unfortunate incident at Obuasi involving some illegal miners and AngloGold Ashanti.

The illegal miners attempted to invade the mine shaft of AngloGold Ashanti but was met with gunshots from soldiers guarding the facility.

The gunshots resulted in the death of eight persons and many others sustained serious injuries.

Captain Smart is said to have incited the miners who are primarily supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress.

An utterance by him is said to have led the miners into the AngloGold enclave to suffer such unfortunate fate.

Following the incident, a video showing Captain Smart telling the illegal miners in Obuasi to trespass AngloGold Ashanti mine shaft has surfaced and the journalist has been called out to take full responsibility of the tragedy.

But Captain Smart, in response on his Facebook live, showed no remorse as he blamed the opposition New Patriotic Party of being behind circulation of the video and also stressed his statements were made in the past.

Addressing the matter on Peace FM’s flagship programme “Kokrokoo”, Collins Owusu Amankwah, a former Manhyia North MP, demanded an unqualified public apology from Captain Smart saying “whether you said it yesterday or two months ago, someone has listened to you and went ahead to demonstrate and has today become an obituary, come out and apologize to the entire nation”.
