Kurt Okraku Set To Contest CAF EXCO Elections
The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has been given the all-clear to contest the Executive Council position of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ghaanasoccernet.com can confirm.
The CAF Review Committee has declared Mr. Okraku eligible to contest the election after he passed the integrity and eligibility test.
He has met all the necessary ethical criteria set by CAF including compliance with CAF and FIFA’S ethics code, clean criminal record, financial integrity, no involvement in doping or match-fixing as well as background in football governance amongst others.
The CAF EXCO Elective Congress will take place in Cairo, Egypt, on March 12, 2025.
Having being cleared, Kurt Okraku would be eligible to run for a position on the CAF EXCO, which plays a key role in the governance and strategic direction of football across Africa.
This development marks a significant milestone in his leadership journey, as a seat on the CAF EXCO would place him at the center of decision-making for African football.
On March 11, 2021, the President of the Ghana Football Association withdrew his candidacy from the CAF Executive Committee elections to support former WAFU Zone B and Niger Football Federation President Djibrilla Hima Hamidou.
Mr. Okraku, representing the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B), is running unopposed for the Executive Committee position.
His election is expected to enhance Ghana’s presence in African football governance.
CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe will also run unopposed for a second term.
The Congress promises a pivotal moment in African football’s development.
