STEM Education: Empowering The Innovators of Tomorrow
African Science Academy (ASA) founded by the African Gifted Foundation is a girls-only
advanced level school fostering the growth of young African women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) with young women from across Africa.
ASA aims to bridge the gender gap in STEM, focusing on empowering young African women
while offering them world-class education, mentorship and hands-on experience in STEM
disciplines.
Programs studied at ASA are Maths, Further Maths and Physics alongside Robotics and Computer Programming.
Aside classroom learning students also partake in guest speaker sessions, community service, club activities and sports.
These programs are designed not only to enhance students’ technical skills but also to build their leadership capabilities, creativity and problem-solving that will help in developing their various communities where alumnae become agents of change, contributing effectively to the growth of the continent and driving progress in critical areas.
African Science Academy, since its inception in 2016 has educated over 150 brilliant young
women in STEM from different African countries studying in leading Universities worldwide on
full scholarships.
We also have the African Gifted Foundation bursary available to students in their home countries.
The eligibility requirements of students admitted to African Science Academy are females within the age range of 16-19 years old and from an African country.
Students will need to have completed Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, iGCSEs, O-Levels or equivalent and have studied Physics and Maths at secondary school and have excellent predicted grades in these subjects, must be fluent in the English language and have a passion for learning particularly physics and math.
The current intake is 50 students per cohort.
African Science Academy is not just an educational institution but a movement for change aimed at transforming Africa’s future by investing in young African women given the skills and opportunities needed to excel, innovate and lead in the fields that are shaping the world with students burning desires and determination to achieve their goals by striving for excellence in everything they do.
