Broaden Your Investigations!…Not Only NPP Members Have State Lands- Nana Akomea Jabs ORAL Team

Nana Akomea

Nana Akomea says he is looking forward to the ORAL team’s investigations to include members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) chaired by the Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has handed over their investigations to the President, John Dramani Mahama, who has also turned it over to the Attorney-General for prosecution.

Speaking as the team presented its report to President John Dramani Mahama on Monday, February 10, 2025, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has revealed their findings regarding the embezzlement of State funds as well as recovering stolen public assets.

According to the Committee, they reviewed 2,417 complaints from the public and thoroughly investigated 36 high-profile cases which Ablakwa says it points to serious corruption involving the misappropriation of public funds.

Over 20 billion dollars, he disclosed, could be recovered if the government successfully retrieves the embezzled funds.

Thirty-six cases that we have reviewed in detail if we are successful in recoveries, we can retrieve as much as $20.49 billion – 20.49 billion United States dollars! Thirty-six cases!”

If we successfully ask people to pay the conservative market value for the lands they have looted, the experts are telling us that we can recover about $702.8 million for the Ghanaian people,” he said.

Commenting on the work of the ORAL, Nana Akomea hoped they captured State asserts acquired by NDC members as well, stressing if it turns out that all the cases involve only members of the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government, then it will be politically biased.

He advised the team not to make it “about political prosecution…They should be careful and not make it politics. I don’t believe no NDC person has bought some of these lands that are said to be State capture”.

He disclosed that lands at Cantoments, a suburb of Accra, are equally State lands and both NPP and NDC members, “many of them have lands at Cantoments sold to them by Lands Commission at the same price, same valuation”, hence, he stressed “the investigations should be broader in order for us to give it our full support”.

Nana Akomea said this while contributing to Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show.
