Agenda 111: 90% of Hospitals Left Untouched; Gov’t Needs $1.7 Billion To Complete Project – Prez Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that his government needs a total of $1.7 billion to complete all the abandoned Agenda 111 projects by the previous NPP government.
According to President John Dramani Mahama, the government under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by former President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, only completed 10% of the projects launched, leaving 90 % uncompleted.
As part of the vision of the NPP government during the emergence of COVID-19, hospital projects were one of the main objectives of the government. This is to bring quality healthcare delivery to the doorstep of every Ghanaian.
However, the project could not be completed by the government as promised.
In a meeting with the Christian Council of Ghana on Monday, February 24, Prez Mahama revealed that although the previous government started with the hospital projects, however, there are so many unfinished ones.
Mr. Mahama said, “The previous government started Agenda 111 but has not been able to finish the hospitals. There are so many of them unfinished. Even the ones they commissioned don’t have a single bed.
“Now we need 1.7 billion US dollars to complete the Agenda 111 projects”, he lamented.
He further called on the clergy and other religious groups to collaborate with the government to enable the completion of the various projects to avoid any form of delay.
“If the missions have a hospital in an area, we are not coming to compete with the missions by building a hospital. We will use the resources to improve the mission hospitals so that they can provide the service.
“So I am also proposing that if some of the missions are interested, they could finish some of the hospitals and manage them”, he suggested.
Assuring Ghanaians during his interaction with the clergy, President Mahama mentioned that he would ensure that quality healthcare is delivered to every Ghanaian.
