Cook-a-Thon Record: Chef Faila Breaks 120 Hours…Currently Doing 140 Hours; Watch How Ghana Celebrates!
Ghanaian chef, Failatu Abdul-Razak, popularly called “Chef Faila”, has been cooking since January 1st to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking ever.
Chef Faila, who began her challenge immediately after Afua Asantewaa completed her Guinness World Record ‘Sing-a-thon’ attempt singing for 126 hours, is aiming to break the world record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes.
Though Chef Faila’s initial mark was 120 hours, new information indicates she is going for 240 hours after hearing a Ugandan woman named Chef Dorcus Mirembe, also known as “Mama D”, had surpassed Alan Fisher’s record by cooking for 144 hours.
“The idea is no longer five days. We are doing six to seven days…For us to be able to break the record and set any, we have to go beyond the 144 hours”, Manager of Chef Faila, Damba Naa is quoted in an interview with Ghana News Agency.
The euphoria, admiration, encouragement and support from Ghanaians to Chef Faila has been amazing as the nation troops in their numbers to cheer her on to complete her task which is ongoing at Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana.
Meanwhile, Chef Faila has currently done 140 hours of cooking in her quest to hit the 240 hours.
