2025 Budget: We’re Heading Towards A ‘One-Party State’ – Yaw Asani Tano Hails Mahama

Yaw Asani Tano, a socio-political analyst, has applauded the Mahama government over their ‘Asempa’ budget presented by the Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

The 2025 budget delivered at Parliament on Tuesday, March 11, highlighted the financial state of the economy and the pragmatic measures by the government towards its reset agenda.

Key highlights of the budgets included the cancellation of the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) and betting tax and allocation of money to cushion various sectors of the economy.

The Minister promised that the government, among other things it is doing to revive the country, will pay up arrears owed to over 300 pharmacists.

“During my engagement with the youth, it was revealed that 321 pharmacists who were employed since June 2023 have not received their salaries. We will take urgent steps to remedy this situation immediately”, the Finance Minister assured.

Commenting on the budget during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” panel discussion show, Yaw Asani Tano was of the view that this budget will make Ghana a “one-party State”.

According to him, should the Mahama administration utilize their budget well, the New Patriotic Party will remain in opposition for more than two decades.

“We are heading towards a one-party State per this particular budget because I have come to realize that over and over again, the budgets that have been presented by the two administrators that have ruled over us in the 4th Republic haven’t had a significant impact to ease the business community and the ordinary person to the point that we expect…The budget, in my opinion, probably will lead us into one-party State”, he remarked.

“Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo never came with a party plan. He never came with a national plan. He followed the manifesto but he came with a family plan to destroy his nation Ghana”, he further jabbed the former President while praising the Mahama administration.
