Dr. Ernest Addison Doesn’t Deserve A ‘Single Iota Of Sympathy’ – Mensah Thompson Says

Mensah Thompson, Executive Director of the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), has backed the government on pursuing the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, to face prosecution on suspicion that he conducted himself corruptibly.
National security operatives led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, raided the private residence of the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addision.
According to eye witness accounts, heavily armed men, some in balaclavas, wielding AK-47 semi-automatic rifles, stormed the victim’s Roman Ridge property in Accra.
They are said to have first disabled the CCTV system and demanded to find Dr Addison’s “vaults” in his house.
Dr. Addison, in response, denied having a vault or a stash of cash in his home.
This, however, did not deter the security operatives as they continued to dishevel the place for unknown reasons nor tell their motive behind the raid.
Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Mensah Thompson admonished the National Security to stop invading people’s homes stressing such actions attract sympathy for the accused persons.
To Mensah Thompson, the former BoG Governor is culpable for corruption but asked the National Security to use lawful means to apprehend him.
“We need to collect our money from some people. Dr. Addison, he should not earn even a single iota of sympathy from Ghanaians because someone who can sit in central bank and print money without parliamentary approval, someone who can run central bank for the bank to incur a debt of 60 billion in one year; such a person doesn’t deserve any iota of sympathy from Ghanaians. So, don’t take guns to go and terrorize him and his wife in their house. Don’t use the national security to invade their home for such persons to gain sympathy from Ghanaians.”
