NIB Invasions: Enough Is Enough…This Must Stop! – Minority Warns Mahama

The Minority has warned government to stop pursuing one of their own, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, and also using security operatives to seemingly intimidate New Patriotic Party (NPP) faithful.

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, who doubles as a Ranking Member of Parliament’s Committee on Defence and Interior, is recently on a mission aimed to expose the Mahama administration.

His latest revelation about two aircraft arriving in Ghana and linked to the smuggle of narcotics and money laundering has become a serious matter of concern to the nation.

Aircraft ‘Cocaine’ Scandal

The aircraft named AirMed Flight N823AM, an air ambulance, and a Cavok Air’s Antonov An-12B, a cargo plane, had arrived from Gran Canaria, Spain, and stayed at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for extended periods before leaving the airport.

The air ambulance is said to have stayed for five days whereas the Cavok Air’s Antonov An-12B remained for 13 days.

These aircraft, according to Ntim Fordjour, appeared to have been used as a conduit for smuggling cocaine and for money laundering.

Govt Denies Claims

But the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has denied the claims, explaining that the aircraft were in Ghana to fix a faulty tyre and to refuel.

In a Facebook post on Sunday April 6, Kwakye Ofosu expounded that the AirMed aircraft landed due to damaged tyres on its landing gear.

“These pictures show engineers fixing damaged tyres on the landing gear of the Air Med Aircraft at the Kotoka International Airport. The damaged parts and engineers were brought in by a different aircraft, reason why it stayed here for three days. Don’t let anyone lie to you”, he stated.

On the Cavok flight, he said; “This is actual footage of the inspection of the Cavok flight by security officials at the Kotoka International Airport on arrival which shows it carried a cargo of oil drills and oil in jerrycans. Don’t let anyone lie to you and shift the goal post when pressed for evidence.”

However, Rev. Ntim Fordjour insists his claims are valid, hence compelling government officials and devout members of the ruling National Democratic Congress to call for his arrest in order to assist with investigations.

NIB Storms Ntim Fordjour’s Home

The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Justin Frimpong Kodua, on Wednesday, April 9, announced that some National Intelligence Bureau(NIB) officials had invaded Ntim Fordjour’s home in an attempt to arrest him.

“NIB currently at Ntim Fordjour’s house to arrest him”, the NPP Chief Scribe revealed.

In view of this, the Minority Caucus led by Alexander Afenyo-Markin and the NPP leadership including some party supporters trooped into Ntim Fordjour’s private residence to prevent the NIB from whisking him away.

Enough Is Enough

The Minority leader, speaking to journalists after thwarting the NIB arrest, sounded a word of caution to President John Dramani Mahama saying “our country is a country of democracy…Four years is far but near. Ghana has been in this exercise for years and we don’t need what we have experienced this morning”.

He added; “The caucus expressed a view through its authorized member, Mr. Ntim Fordjour, a Reverend Minister and a politician. If government disagrees with views expressed, government can also tell its side of the story. This is democracy; it’s not about we are inviting you, you come with armed men.”

He admonished the President to keep his hands off Ntim Fordjour, stressing “Reverend cannot be made an example. Reverend Is not a loner. He has not walked alone; he will never walk alone. As a caucus, we have our various committee heads and he is the leader of the Defence and Interior Committee of our caucus and he speaks for the caucus and he expresses the views of the caucus, so nobody should make any attempt to single him out and try to come here, intimidate him. He walks through this unfortunate valley of the shadow of death but he will fear no evil”.

“Enough is enough. Stop it…This must stop!”, he exclaimed and emphasized they “will not be intimidated”.
