Using Taxpayers’ Money To Buy Vehicles For A President-Elect Very ‘Senseless’ – Adu-Boahene Blasted!

Kwabena Adu-Boahene

A journalist named Charles McCarthy has blasted the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, over his shocking revelations in a letter written by him from the custody of EOCO.

Writing the letter to set the record straight on his financial embezzlement charges brought against him by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dominic Ayine, Adu-Boahene disclosed that the money amounting to GH¢49 million for which reason he is facing 11 charges including stealing and causing financial loss to the State was partly paid to then President-elect of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.

According to his letter written to the National Security Coordinator, GH¢5,135,000 was used to purchase three vehicles for the President.

Adu-Boahene mentioned a 2024 Nissan Patrol Platinum, 2024 Nissan Patrol Titanium and 2022 Land Cruiser GXR.

The money, he stated, was paid to a special aide to the President.

He also revealed some monies were paid to the Members of Parliament as allowances and to an opposition party prior to the 2024 elections for the purchase of an election communication equipment.

Tackling these and other revelations by Adu-Boahene, Charles McCarthy found it very embarrassing that the former cybersecurity boss would spend monies meant for Ghana into private use by individuals.

“It’s an embarrassment to him”, he exclaimed on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.

On the purchase of vehicles through a special aide to the President-elect, the journalist remarked; “It makes no sense that a spy head will say he bought a car for a President-elect, given money to an aide of the President-elect and paid MPs. You don’t do this anywhere. This is not an excuse that we must tolerate.”
