Don’t Tarnish Your Legacy With Arrests Like Adenta Kumi – Charles Owusu To Mahama

Charles Owusu has advised the Mahama administration not to involve themselves in actitivities that will take the shine off their good works.

He asked the government officials not to do things that will tarnish the legacy of the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.

His comment on Peace FM’s  Friday edition of “Kokrokoo” show came on the back of the arrest of a former NPP parliamentary aspirant for Adenta, Alfred Ababio Kumi, also known as Adenta Kumi.

Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah revealed in a Facebook post Friday morning that Adenta Kumi had been picked up from his residence by eight armed men believed to be operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

Hours before his arrest on Friday, May 23, 2025, Alfred Kumi reacted to a video shared by Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, the acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, purportedly showing a secret meeting between the Justices on the committee and a lawyer of one of the people who petitioned for Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo’s removal.

In a post on X on May 22, 2025, Alfred Kumi indicated that he was under threat after showing the purported secret meeting of the Justices.

He cautioned the security officials against making an attempt to arrest him stating he petitioned the President, not them.

“I said it that if I have to run for my life, someone will release the video! There are more videos, please any state agency that does not allow the president @JDMahama to respond to the petition, but rather want to pick me up, will cause more harm to our state than picking me.

“I petitioned the president, not BNI or national security. Leave me the hell alone!!” he wrote on X.

Reacting to the arrest, Charles Owusu said “as the government is gaining these good grounds and we are happy about their good work, anything that won’t bring any award and won’t add anything better to the nation, it will help for us to change”.

To him, incidents like Adenta Kumi’s and others potentially mar the good works of the government, hence advised them to desist from such activities.
