18 NPP MPs Out Of Parliament Is To Bring New Life & Energy Into The House – NPP Youth Organizer

National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Salam Mustapha has shared his concerns over the exit of eighteen (18) Members of Parliament of the party from the Legislative House.

The eighteen Parliamentarians comprise the Majority Leader and MP for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu who has served in the House for seven terms, First Deputy Speaker and MP, Bekwai, Joseph Osei-Owusu with four terms, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Assin Central with six terms, Joe Ghartey, Essikado-Ketan (five terms), Samuel Atta Akyea, Akyem Abuakwa South (four terms) and Dan Botwe, Okere (four terms).

These MPs among others have served notice that they will no longer be a part of Parliament in January, 2025.

Addressing the matter during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, the NPP National Youth Organizer was worried that the MPs are exiting Parliament looking at their wealth of knowledge and long years of experience.

He wondered why they would make such decision now as, to him, none of these MPs would lose their seats should they contest again.

“When you take a constituency like Okere where Dan Botwe is, I mean, for the life of me, I don’t see Dan Botwe losing primaries.”

To him, it saddens him to see these MPs out of Parliament, however he believes they may have concluded on not joining Parliament again to allow for fresh minds in the House.

“Sometimes, the breath of new energy, new life, brings a different set of results…I believe that almost every person I have seen on the list is someone who, if the person had re-contested, easily would have won. For instance…if Dan Botwe says he won’t contest again, then it is a certain reason to say that, maybe, we should allow new people or let’s train new set of maybe young people to take up the mantle of leadership”, he told host Nana Yaw Kesseh.

Salam commended the MPs for their hard work for the New Patriotic Party and Ghanaians.
