Go To The NPP ‘Mugabes’ In Parliament And Learn From Them – Prof. Osafo Tells Aspiring MPs

Professor Joseph Osafo, Head of Psychologist at the University of Ghana, has welcomed the decision by some 18 Members of Parliament of the New Patriotic Party to exit Parliament.

The 18 Parliamentarians comprising the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Assin Central lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong, Okere MP, Dan Botwe and a host of others have indicated that they are no longer interested in contesting their seats again, hence won’t join Parliament in 2025.

The Senior Psychologist, speaking to Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM’s flagship programme “Kokrokoo”, upon reflection on this decision, advised the lawmakers to leave a good mark for the young generation.

He stated; “Leadership is about trailblazing and paving new paths for others. It’s not about the skill of holding onto power but the goodwill of mentoring and preparing for the next generation. The leader must always not forget that whoever he wants to manage him tomorrow should be managed well today. You cannot mismanaged people today and expect to be managed well tomorrow. When you step out on the way for others today, they will create the highway for you tomorrow.”

“…a time comes when whether you like it or not, you will expire not in terms of body but expire in terms of relevance”, he further advised.

Turning to the new breed of MPs who will be succeeding them, Prof. Osafo asked that they submit themselves under tutelage of the experienced Parliamentarians.

“They should go to them and learn their work experience”, he urged.
