Ghana’s Coach Chris Hughton SACKED!

Ghana’s coach, Chris Hughton has been sacked following the Black Stars’ exit from the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) being held in Ivory Coast.

Chris Hughton took the reins as Head Coach of the Black Stars last year after a disappointing World Cup campaign in Qatar.

The coach however failed to walk Ghana past the group stage in the AFCON to the round of 16 and hopefully aim for the trophy.

Ghana’s hopes of progressing in the AFCON was truncated after a 2:2 draw with Mozambique on Monday, January 22, as the team had to rely on Cameroon’s defeat to stay in the tournament but the Cameroonians conquered Gambia to officially kick Ghana out of the AFCON 2023.

Following the embarrassing elimination from the tournament, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has ended the tenure of the Head Coach and also dissolved the technical team of the Black Stars.

“The Ghana Football Association wishes to announce that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the senior National team with immediate effect”, the GFA said.

The Association continued; “The Executive Council has also taken a decision to dissolve the technical team of the Black Stars.

“The Ghana Football Association will in the coming days provide a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars.”
