AFCON Exit: Why Touch The Ball? Is It Witchcraft Or What? – Politician ‘Angry’ At Black Stars’ Goalkeeper

Richard Ofori

Ghana’s goalkeeper, Richard Ofori is not yet set free by Ghanaians as they keep unleashing their wrath on him over his blunder that ended their dream of progressing in the ongoing AFCON in Ivory Coast.

Richard Ofori, who had been the Black Stars’ goalie throughout the tournament, dashed Mozambique their second goal after failing to grab a ball that was going over the line.

Many soccer fans blame him for the Ghana vs Mozambique match that resulted in a 2:2 draw on Monday, January 22, 2024 because, to them, he had no business touching the ball that was already going out at the last minutes of the game.

And like the many Ghanaians who cannot wrap their heads around the incident, Allotey Jacobs, a former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, is equally at a loss at what could have pushed Ghana’s goalkeeper to attempt catching a ball which was already out of the pitch.

Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo”, Allotey could find little to no words to describe his feelings about the keeper’s action.

“A ball is going over; there was no opposing player. Even your own players were not close to you and the ball is going over, then you go and touch the ball. Is this witchcraft or what?…This is serious!”, he hollered.
