‘I’m Okay’ – Chairman Wontumi Responds To His Health Problem

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, says he has recovered from his reported sickness.

The Chairman was reported to have taken ill following a summon from the Manhyia Palace to appear before the Chiefs for interrogation into his alleged defamation against them.

Chairman Wontumi, who was recently seen in a viral photo lying on a sickbed in a hospital, was today spotted in the Bantama constituency during the NPP parliamentary primaries.

The Chairman, who was on his usual duties, granted interviews to the press and responding to the news about his ill health, said;  “I am okay”.

Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako was summoned to the Manhyia Palace to meet the Kumasi Traditional Council but he failed to show up.

The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, led a delegation to appeal for on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Chairman for an extension of date, informing the traditional leaders about the latter’s sickness but they denied the request claiming there is no medical report authenticating Chairman Wontumi’s illness.

The Chiefs have therefore impressed upon him to appear before them on Monday, January 29, 2024.
