Chairman Wontumi’s Fate Hang In The Balance; Manhyia To Take Action Today
The Manhyia Palace, according to sources, have convened a meeting to decide the fate of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi.
Chairman Wontumi was summoned by the Kumasi Traditional Council to answer some questions pertaining to some comments he made which the Chiefs find derogatory.
The Council had directed the leadership of the political party to produce Chairman Wontumi before them but the General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, appearing before the Council in the company of the National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye and a host of other executives, pleaded for an extension of date citing Chairman Wontumi was ill and had been admitted in the hospital.
However, the Ashanti Regional Chairman, also called “Governor 1” by some supporters of the New Patriotic Party, was spotted on Saturday at Bantama constituency during the party’s parliamentary elections.
An invitation letter signed by the Registrar of the Council, Kwame Adusei Agyemang, inviting Nananom (Traditional Council) to reconvene for the meeting read in part; ”Greetings Nananom, this is to respectfully inform you of the Kumasi Traditional Council’s sitting scheduled for Monday, January 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. prompt. Please endeavor to attend.”
The Chiefs will decide their next line of action today.
