‘Leave A Good Name And Legacy’ – Prof. Smart Sarpong Tells New Ministers

Prof. Smart Sarpong has lauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over his ministerial reshuffle.
The reshuffle occurred on Valentine’s Day with Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, kicked out of their respective Ministries.
Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam replaced Ken Ofori-Atta and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye has been reassigned to the Health Ministry.
Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah goes to the Works and Housing Ministry and the Works and Housing Minister, Francis Asenso-Boakye is to replace the Roads and Highways Minister, Kwasi Amoako-Attta.
Former Tema East lawmaker, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover has been appointed as Greater Accra Regional Minister and the Regional Minister, Henry Quartey is being sent to Interior Ministry.
Deputy Information Minister, Fatimatu Abubakar takes her boss’ position as Minister and new entrant, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Member for Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, becomes Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources.
The President further appointed and reassigned other officials of his government to various Ministries.
Nonetheless, to some critics, this reshuffle is too late since this year’s marks the last term of President Nana Addo.
Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo”, Prof. Smart Sarpong dissented to the criticism that the reshuffle is late and also that the new Ministers will make no significant impact.
Going by “the old adage that it is better late than never”, he believed the Ministers-designate will do fantastic job within the short period.
Mentioning some names that he noted cannot be underestimated when it comes to their effectiveness in executing their duties, the Senior Research Fellow at the Kumasi Technical University was of a strong view that these crop of Ministers won’t disappoint.
Singling out the NHIA boss among other names like Titus-Glover, Prof. Smart Sarpong asserted; “Nobody can say on any good debating platform that Okoe-Boye moving to health won’t have any impact unless you are not in tune with the basics of the discussion.”
He however advised them quoting Philippians 4:8 that they should leave a good name and legacy in their offices.
