Reshuffle In Parliament: Your Press Conference Was ‘Politically Tactless’ & ‘Disruptive’ – Kweku Baako Blasts Majority Caucus

Seasoned journalist, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has replied the Majority on their press conference regarding the change in leadership of the Caucus.

News regarding the Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s ascent to the Majority Leader position and other names like Madam Patricia Appiagyei popping up on the list of people appointed to form the new leadership has been met with strong opposition from some members of the Majority in Parliament.

The First Deputy Speaker and Member of Parliament for Bekwai of the governing New Patriotic Party, Joseph Osei Owusu insists there is not going to be any change as widely circulated in the media.

“The Majority Caucus has not made any changes in its leadership, the majority caucus has not contemplated making any changes to its leadership and we will tell the world and Ghana to ignore any such publication”, Hon. Osei Owusu stated emphatically during their conference.

He added; “We want to assure you that we have confidence in the leadership and the status quo shall remain, we are aware that upon the nomination of one of the Deputy Whips as a minister, a replacement will be made, that replacement will be made by the caucus when weaved the opportunity and the time to consider the appropriate replacement, this is all the information we have to share.”

Commenting on the issue during Wednesday’s Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo”, Kweku Baako described the move as “politically tactless”.

To him, the Majority’s reaction could disrupt the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign.

“That press conference was politically tactless and potentially disruptive of the party’s campaign cohesion and focus”, he remarked in a text message.
