Cook-a-Thon: Guinness World Records ‘Disqualifies’ Chief Faila

Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul-Razak, who successfully ended her Guinness World “cook-a-thon” record attempt after 10 days in the kitchen, has been disqualified by the Guinness World Records.

Chef Faila undertook this task to set a new record for the longest cooking marathon.

She intended to beat the official 119-hour record set by Alan Fisher but ended up doing a rather astounding 227 hours after realizing a Ugandan chef named Dorcus Mirembe, popularly known as Mama D, had cooked for 144 hours.

Chef Faila cooked over 100 meals and was awaiting her Guinness World Records’ validation and certification as having set a new world record.

But unfortunately, a statement from the Records management team says Chef Faila’s record attempt was unsuccessful.

The Records cited violation of the rest break rules, resulting in her unsuccessful attempt.

Chef Faila has however expressed her gratitude to the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, all dignitaries who paid her a visit and all Ghanaians for their support and love during her record attempt.

“While the outcome may not be what we anticipated, I am deeply thankful for the unwavering support from our sponsors and partners as well as the encouragement from our fans. Your backing has been instrumental throughout this journey”, she said.
