Police Arrest Fmr. NPP Guru, Hopeson Adorye Over Dynamite Explosion

Hopeson Adorye

Former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hopeson Adorye has reportedly been arrested  over his claim that he detonated dynamites in the Volta Region during the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Mr. Adorye went viral after granting a media interview and claiming the dynamite explosion was a ploy to pump fear into the electorates.

Hopeson Adorye shared details of the operation in an interview on Onua TV on May 16, 2024,  revealing it involved the use of explosives and occurred within the borders of Togo.

“There is this issue in the Volta Region during elections that Togolese came and registered to vote. In 2016, they came to register alright, but I took it upon myself to disable the system so that they would not come and vote.

“I chose a team and made them swear an oath that they were not going to inform the regional executives of what we were going to do”, he said.

He expounded; “We had a relation who grew up there (Togo) and he had a good relationship with the traditional authorities there. So, he moved us from one authority to the other, so we could engage them. When we met them, we gave them a lot of money (CFA) for them…Everything that happened took place in Togo…After it (the explosion), I made them take off on the motorbikes. There was a commotion…It was a strategy.”

According to reliable report, Hopeson Adorye, who was dismissed from the governing party due to his affiliation with Alan Kyerematen, an independent presidential candidate, is currently in Police custody.
