A-G/Ato Forson Ambulance Purchase Case Is a ‘Storm In a Teacup’ – Nana Akomea
STC Chief Executive, Nana Akomea has sized up the ongoing ambulance purchase trial involving the Attorney-General, Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson and a certain Richard Jakpa.
Richard Jakpa is on trial with the former Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, over an alleged €2.3 million financial loss to the State.
During cross-examination at the High Court presided by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, Jakpa accused the Attorney-General of approaching him to help build a case against Dr. Ato Forson.
“A-G has on several occasions engaged me at odd hours to help him make a case against A1 and I have evidence for that. If he pushes me, I will open the Pandora’s box”.
“I don’t understand why the A-G will accuse me of defending A1 when I’m here to defend myself”, Jakpa said.
In respect of this, both the ruling New Patriotic Party and opposition National Democratic Congress have indicated to hold press conferences to address the matter in an attempt to ascertain the truth.
But to Nana Akomea, the press conferences are of no usefulness because the issue is before the court.
However, tilting towards the Attorney-General as he established no wrongdoing on the part of the Mr. Godfred Dame to prosecute Ato Forson, Nana Akomea asserted that “by the end of the day, we will see it is a storm in a teacup”.
To him, he is enjoying the brouhaha surrounding the issue but strongly believes the truth will surely come out.
“I am excited by this drama and the drama is taking place in public, so we all will know the truth”, he told broadcaster Kwami Sefa Kayi on his morning show “Kokrokoo” aired on Peace FM.
