Adum Fire Outbreak: It’s Unfortunate But It Will Happen Again If… – CENS Africa Boss Tells Traders

Clement Abaidoo, Executive Director of the Center for Environment, Natural Resources and Sustainability (CENS) Africa, has commiserated with the victims of the fire outbreak at Adum on Friday, March 21.

Fire gutted several shops, destroying items worth millions of cedis.

The cause of the fire remains sketchy.

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Naa Momo Lartey in the company of MASLOC CEO, Abigail Elorm Mensah and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, visited the fire scene.

Assessing the impact of the fire, Dr. Frank Amoakohene announced plans to improve vehicular access and prevent unauthorized activities in the area.

Commenting on the incident during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, Clement Abaidoo prayed for the victims to be restored in these trying times.

“I really want to commiserate with them. It’s unfortunate”, he remarked.

However, he advised the traders to adopt safety measures to prevent future occurences.

He stressed if the traders don’t change their way of life, such situation will be extremely difficult to deal with.

He therefore admonished the traders and authorities saying “there are so many things we can do to prevent some of these occurences. We have to be very conscious of ourselves. We have to be aware of where we are, where we work, the things surrounding us. We have to be intentional about identifying risk and managing them even before the risk turns into a disaster”.
