AFCON 2023 Exit: ‘We Should Have Done Better’ – Dede Ayew Apologizes To Ghanaians

Ghana’s national team captain, Andre Dede Ayew has apologized to all Ghanaian soccer fans and Ghanaians at large for the abysmal performance of the Black Stars resulting in their early exit from the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The team failed to make progress from the Group stage after their 2:2 draw with Mozambique that shattered all hopes of moving to the Round of 16 and hopefully winning the AFCON trophy.

A mammoth number of Ghanaians were heartbroken and have shared their disappointments and pains with some calling on Dede Ayew and his brother, Jordan Ayew, to resign from the team.

In a solemn presentation of how the team feels following their exit from the tournament, the captain has rendered an unreserved apology to the nation.

“These past days have been a very difficult days for every Ghanaian football fan and myself. I’d like to apologize for the results in the AFCON that we just exited.

“We know that we should have done better; that we should have brought better results to the nation. As the captain of the squad, I take full responsibility for what happened on the pitch, for playing body. We should have done better”, he expressed.
