Agenda 111 Hospitals: Stop The Complaints…Find The Money; Fix It! – NPP MP Replies Mahama

Vincent Ekow Attafuah, the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, has vehemently impressed upon President John Mahama to complete the Agenda 111 health project commenced under the previous administration.
Mahama’s predecessor, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo committed to constructing 111 district and Regional hospitals to ensure proper healthcare for patients and strengthen the health sector.
However, the previous government couldn’t finish the project as they were voted out of power on December 7, 2024.
Prior to the general elections, President Mahama, as part of his campaign message, promised to complete the Agenda 111 hospitals but upon assuming office, he complains about it.
According to him, to complete the project, his government needs $1.7 billion.
Also, at Parliament on Thursday, February 27, 2025, the President, in his first State of the Nation Address, slammed the Akufo-Addo government for failing to complete the project.
“There is no dedicated funding source for this gargantuan project. Mr. Speaker, for the record, as I speak not a single Agenda 111 hospital is operational in any part of Ghana. I challenge you, not one is operational.”
“…it is worth disclosing that 400 million US Dollars has already been disbursed under the Agenda 111 project. Mr. Speaker, at a rate of approximately 80 million dollars per hospital, this US $400 million spent could have completed and made operational at least 22 of those hospitals”, he also shockingly revealed.
But Vincent Ekow Attafuah, joining Friday’s “Kokrokoo” panel discussion show on Peace FM, sought to expose what, to him, is the President’s dishonesty.
He insisted that the Akufo-Addo government completed some of the hospitals, citing one at Kokoben and another at Kyerede, all in the Ashanti Region.
After disclosing this, he reprehended the President for making compliants and blaming the previous government.
“Let’s take it that we didn’t complete a single hospital. How can this be a failure on the part of the NPP government? How? It cannot be because, definitely, when you start a project, you will have to end at a point. Yes, the NPP government felt that we could finish within 2 years and we couldn’t finish it. What is our crime?…Our crime is that you are saying you need 1.7 billion dollars to complete it”, he said.
Hon. Ekow Attafuah urged President Mahama to complete the hospitals, stressing “Please, Mr. President, we voted for you to fix the problem. Please, fix it; find the money and fix it because the people of Ghana deserve robust health system”.
