AirMed ‘Cocaine’ Brouhaha: Just Do Your Investigations And Stop All This ‘Noisemaking’ – Nana Akomea To Mahama

Nana Akomea has taken a swipe at President John Dramani Mahama over his way of handling the current allegations regarding some flights allegedly linked to cocaine trafficking and money laundering operations in Ghana.
The flights which included an air ambulance and a private jet are said to have landed and stayed in Ghana for five days unbeknownst to lots of Ghanaians until the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Committee on Defence and Interior, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour made an exposé which has turned into a strident repartee between the opposition New Patriotic Party and the government.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour, Assin South lawmaker, alleged that an air ambulance named AirMed Flight N823AM and a jet landed at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) before departing for Gran Canaria, Spain in March this year.
He claimed the aircrafts may have conveyed illicit drugs and money from Ghana.
Although initial comments suggested no such aircrafts had entered Ghana, checks on FlightRadar24, a trusted flight tracking platform, revealed that AirMed N823AM indeed came to Ghana.
It confirmed that AirMed N823AM was originally scheduled to depart Gran Canaria on March 20, 2025, at 3:55 AM, and arrive in Accra at 8:08 AM.
It was delayed and departed at 4:59 AM, landing in Accra at 9:03 AM.
The aircraft stayed in Ghana and departed from KIA on March 25, 2025, at 1:01 AM to Gran Canaria at 5:12 AM.
But according to the President’s Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the flights stopped at Ghana for maintenance and other technical reasons.
“These pictures show engineers fixing damaged tyres on the landing gear of the Air Med Aircraft at the Kotoka International Airport. The damaged parts and engineers were brought in by a different aircraft, reason why it stayed here for five days.Don’t let anyone lie to you”, he posted on his socials, sharing pictures of a supposed flight which had developed a fault.
Also, the Chief Executive of PMMC and Communications Officer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has described Ntim Fordjour as a liar and requested the arrest of the MP.
“In other jurisdictions, he would have been blacklisted.”
“If he doesn’t honour the invitation [by National Security] to him and he thinks that he can hide behind his parliamentary privileges, he lie bad. Because he will be arrested. Some of us will insist that he is arrested and you must substantiate that”, Sammy Gyamfi commented during a heated debate on Joy News’ “Newsfile” over the weekends.
Wading into the conversations, Nana Akomea, former Chief Executive of the InterCity State Transport Corporation (STC), jabbed the President questioning “why all this brouhaha?” about Ntim Fordjour.
Though supporting the President’s directive for the security agencies to actively get involved in the issue, Nana Akomea however registered his utter displeasure with the way and manner the government is somehow targeting Mr. Fordjour.
“This or that person says something and then another rebuffs claiming the other is lying, why? Where from all this? When this happens, it makes it appear you are hiding something”, he stated on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show.
Nana Akomea admonished the Mahama administration to desist from the personal attacks stressing “just do investigations. That’s all!”
