Ameyaw-Akumfi’s Detention: Where From This ‘Revolution Style Of Governance’ In Ghana’s Democratic State? – Fmr. NIB Boss Blasts Mahama

Former Deputy Managing Director at National Investment Bank, Alfred Thompson has slammed the Mahama administration over the detention of former Chairman of Public Procurement Authority (PPA) Board, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi was detained on Sunday in connection with an investigation into financial matters during his tenure as the Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).
The Professor has however been released and his lawyers are said to resolve the matter.
Alfred Thompson found this act in contradiction with the democratic principles of Ghana.
He blamed the President, John Dramani Mahama, for what he terms as the unlawful arrests and harassment of officials of the erstwhile Akufo-Addo regime.
He cautioned the President saying “you shouldn’t take the goodwill of Ghanaians for granted”.
“We have moved forward in this country…We are in a democracy; democracy doesn’t need a revolution style of governance”, he vehemently condemned the NIB detention.
He implored President Mahama to instill discipline in his administration, ensuring he and his appointees uphold the rule of law.
“Is this what Mahama wants us to go through? Is this the vote they gave to him to come and do?…Because this is not acceptable”, he further blasted the President.
Alfred Thompson made these remarks on “Kokrokoo” panel discussion programme on Peace FM.
