Andre Ayew Is Not Perturbed Over Black Stars Snub – Agyemang-Badu

Andre Dede Ayew

Former Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, has revealed that Andre Ayew is not worried about being left out of Ghana’s squad.

Andre, who has over 120 caps for the senior national team with 24 goals, has been out of the Black Stars since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, where the team exited at the group phase.

However, the U-20 World Cup winner has been impressive for Le Havre in the ongoing French Ligue 1, scoring five goals but has been overlooked again.

Reacting to the decision to leave Andre Ayew out of the Black Stars squad for the upcoming games against Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Agyemang-Badu said the decision must be respected.

“We all know that the criteria for selecting players into the Black Stars is performance. Andre Ayew is performing but if the coach [Otto Addo] has made a decision, we need to respect it.”

Agyemang-Badu further revealed that the former Swansea City and West Ham attacker is unfazed by the decision to be left out of the squad for the games.

“I have spoken to Andre Ayew, and he is not worried,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars officially opened camp today in Accra and will hold their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Jojo Wollacott, Antoine Semenyo and Thomas Partey have all arrived in camp.

Ghana will face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before travelling to Morocco to take on Madagascar on Monday, March 24.

The Black Stars currently sit second in Group I with nine points, level with leaders Comoros.
