AngloGold Shooting Incident: Such ‘Dirt’ On Ghana’s Image! – Mahama Slammed

STC boss, Nana Akomea has slammed the Mahama government over their supporters’ misbehavior following their 2024 election victory.

The supporters, after President John Dramani Mahama was elected, have been engaging in acts of violence either vandalizing private and public properties or trying to take over facilities and companies in the name of their “government is in power”.

A recent act by some illegal miners believed to belong to the governing National Democratic Congress has resulted in tragic loss of lives.

Dozens of illegal miners trespassed AngloGold Ashanti over the weekend but were overpowered by a number of soldiers who fired gunshots to disperse them.

Unfortunately, about 8 people lost their lives and others sustained serious injuries, according to reports.

In view of this incident, the President has directed an investigation to ascertain the cause and has also instructed AngloGold Ashanti to bear the medical expenses of the victims as well as facilitate the burial arrangements of the deceased.

Reacting to this tragic situation, Nana Akomea blamed the government for failing to bring their supporters to order.

He found the behavior of the supporters unacceptable but hoped their leaders will do the needful stressing “you are in power, do legitimate things”.

He asked the NDC and their fanatics to use legal means to address their concerns.

Nana Akomea described the AngloGold shooting incident as a “disgrace” to Ghana’s democracy.

“It is a disgrace to our democracy…It tarnishes Ghana’s image”, he stated on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show.
