Anti-LGBTQ+: NPP Will Be Called ‘Trumu, Trumu’ Party If You Don’t Assent To This Bill – Lawyer Foh-Amoaning Warns Akufo-Addo
The Executive Secretary for the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, lawyer Moses Foh-Amoaning has reposed confidence in President Nana Addo to assent to the anti-LGBTQ+ bill into law.
Speaking in an interview with on 3FM’s “Sunrise” with Jonny Hughes, lawyer Foh-Amoaning noted that the bill is not to harm any homosexual but to reform them.
He stated that the aim of the bill is not dump culprits into jail as widely circulated around.
“The focus of the Coalition is not to criminalize or dump people in prisons…those people who get caught in these challenges, we were very clear in our mind that what they needed was care treatment and support, and it’s in the bill.”
He therefore stressed the electoral misfortune for his party, the New Patriotic Party and other woes that will be visited upon the country if the President refuses to assent to the bill.
“If he refuses to sign, it would be very easy the NDC will just package the NPP as ‘Trumu Trumu’ party”, he said.
The bill criminalizes the promotion, advocacy and acts of homosexuality in Ghana.
Offenders will face a jail term of a minimum of six months to 5 years.
To Moses Foh-Amoaning, he strongly believes the President will heed the voices of the masses and append his signature to the bill which has been passed by Parliament and awaiting presidential assent.
Well, the President is a very smart politician and what I’ve told everybody who’s asked me this question is, first of all there’s no President who has ascended the presidency of Ghana who has used the word of God more than this President. So, the point I’m trying to make is, with all that I know about the President, I know he will sign this bill”, he stated.
