Bawku Conflict: ‘We Shall Know Them By Their Fruits’ – Kwamena Duncan Replies Mahama
Former Minister for Central Region, Kwamena Duncan has reprimanded President John Dramani Mahama over his recent comments regarding bawku conflict.
The President, on Tuesday, January 14, undertook a peace-building mission to Bawku and Nalerigu.
The visit underscored the President’s unwavering commitment to resolving the protracted conflict in Bawku.
During his visit to the Overlord of the Mamprugu Kingdom, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga II, President John Mahama pledged to prioritize peace in the community.
“I just came to appeal to him and his subjects to exercise restraint and patience and trust that we will resolve this matter amicably. So, I’m just appealing to my father that they should exercise patience while I set up the government”, he said.
But Kwamena Duncan takes the President’s words with a pinch of salt.
Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Mr. Duncan, a stalwart of the opposition New Patroitic Party, alluded to the President’s comments while campaigning in the area last year.
He recounted the President accusing the previous government of fanning the conflict, hence questions Mahama’s commitment to the conflict as to him the President used the conflict for campaign purposes.
On whether or not John Mahama will solve the conflict, Kwamena Duncan concluded; “We will see and we shall know them by their fruits.”
