Bawumia To Construct Ultramodern Stadium At Sunyani

The flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed a strong desire to construct an ultramodern stadium for Sunyani if he becomes President.

The Ahafo Regional capital is noted for hosting two of Ghana’s traditional clubs BA United and Bofoakwa Tank.

Vice President Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the city’s passion for football and pledging his commitment to building new stadia, the NPP presidential candidate said; “We will build six new stadia in the six new Regions and we will also build a standard stadium in Sunyani because of their love for football and the many clubs in Sunyani.”

Further talking about infrastructure development, Dr. Bawumia promised to build on the numerous Sports infrastructure the Akufo-Addo government has built across the country including expansion of astro turf pitches within the various constituencies.

The NPP Flagbearer assured that his government will adopt a more effective maintenance module to ensure the facilities are well maintained.

Dr. Bawumia also revealed his intention to establish a Sports Development Fund and introduced tax incentives to encourage corporate support and commercial viability of Sports in the nation.

Dr. Bawumia promised to support the Premier League through his policy direction with the National Lotteries and Gaming Commission to mitigate the expenses of Premier League clubs and pay good salaries to them.

He further disclosed his government will establish School Sports Secretariat as an agency of the Ministry responsible for Sports to effectively drive the development of Sports at the grass root level through schools in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service and Sports federations.
