Black Queens Return Home After Friendly Match Against Japan

The Black Queens of Ghana have arrived home after their international friendly against Japan in Tokyo last Saturday.

The team led by coach Nora Hauptle, the technical team and players touched down in Accra on Monday.

Ghana departed their base in Kanazawa, Japan, for the Naritao International Airport on Sunday without the likes of Grace Asantewaa, Linda Eshun and Princess Marfo who had already left for Mexico, Iceland and Honolulu, USA respectively to rejoin their clubs.

The Black Queens are on a rebuilding process after missing out on a couple of continental outings and have qualified for the next edition of the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) slated for July 2025.

The friendly with Japan was a good test for the Black Queens and gave the Technical team a good idea of the level of the team and areas that require further strengthening.

The GFA remains committed to continuing to invest in building the depth and quality of the team ahead of future assignments in line with the Women’s Football Strategy of the Association.
